This exhibition offers a unique delve into the layers of perception and memory, inviting viewers to experience the gradual clarification of images and their meaning.
"Microgenesis" is a concept from perceptual psychology that describes the process by which images
and their interpretation gradually emerges from the subconscious to a conscious level.
This dynamic development is similar to a photograph slowly appearing in a darkroom – initially blurred and undefined, but clarifying and sharpening over time.
It is precisely this process of formation and emergence that Janno Bergmann brings forth to the viewers in his new exhibition.
The series exhibited in the show is created using experimental methods of cameraless photography, combining lumen print and chemigram techniques.
These processes offer a rare opportunity to see how Lumen print utilizes the interplay of light and time on light-sensitive photographic paper,
capturing images without traditional chemical development. The result is a unique narrative created by light and time themselves.
Chemigram opens an unpredictable dialogue between material and chemistry, where light, liquids, and time create unique patterns.
These works are simultaneously both random and mesmerizingly orderly.
The artworks created on black-and-white photographic paper embody the layered expansion of perception and memory.
These images are not merely recordings but visual traces of physical and chemical processes that gradually reveal themselves with each viewing,
offering new details and interpretations. Janno Bergmann's solo exhibition "Microgenesis" invites the viewer to experience moments of formation
and emergence where the boundary between chaos and order, chance and regularity blurs.
This is a meditative journey into visual stratifications that challenge our perception and open up new perspectives on how we perceive and remember the world.
