ALTERS (2023)
In the works of the photo exhibition "Alters", I have brought to the viewer the alters hidden in me. These benevolent encouragers, insightful exposers, or life-stopping annoyances pop up unannounced and unasked to impersonate me. Even if the reflection looks normal, the inside picture is different.

In the series "Alters", I have made visible the alter egos hidden within me. Just as I don't feel like I'm perfect, my other selves are imperfect too - they have humanity and humor as well as tragedy.
Most of the time, these are characters or sides of me, the existence of which I would rather hide than show to others.
The other-selves are made in different styles to support each character. With image processing, I have built a living environment for them, which may not match my own, but which matches my periodic self-image on an emotional and symbolic level.
When creating my works, I have been unwavering in two dogmas.

1. I have to paint my characters completely by myself, no one else can draw a line.
2. Other selves must be real and hidden within me. I didn't want to draw myself because it was easy or to look good (like wearing a soldier's helmet or a policeman's uniform).

In their self-ironic and honest frankness, the images of other-selves are a kind of "anti-selfs". I tried to create works that were fun and relatable but also contained deeper levels.
Each of my other selves has its own identity and name that reveals the character. In addition, I have written a brief description of each, explaining the situation and emotional state when the other self has pushed my core self aside.
There are currently 14 works and they are of different sizes. The largest is approx. 50 x 80 cm and the smallest is 15 x 20 cm.
