Birgit Pählapuu (b. 1981) holds both a Master’s degree (2016) and a Bachelor’s degree (2010) in Glass Art from the Estonian Academy of Arts. She also studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in 2008 and holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration from Estonian Business School, completed in 2002.
Pählapuu has participated in masterclasses in flameworking as well as courses in vitreography, sandblasting and stained glass in Estonia, Finland and Italy. She has exhibited in Estonia and internationally since 2008 and has organised exhibitions since 2017.
In 2007, she received the Maks Roosma Creative Scholarship. In 2024, she was awarded the Silver Prize at the Toyama International Glass Exhibition. She has been a member of the Estonian Glass Artists’ Association since 2010.Alongside her individual artistic practice, Pählapuu is one of the founders and leading figures of OKAPI Gallery, where she also contributes to the promotion and development of the work of her fellow artists.
