Toomas Kuusing (b. 1976) is an Estonian graphic artist and painter. His educational path has been connected with Academia Non Grata (2001–2002), the later Academia Grata of the Pärnu College of the Estonian Academy of Arts, as well as the Estonian Academy of Arts.
Kuusing's works are characterized by a certain youthful rebelliousness and call for revolution, presenting political pain points in a curved mirror, and allegorical situations. The artist cites the Dutch Renaissance master Hieronymus Bosch as one of his role models. In addition to painting and graphic art, performance art also plays an important role in Kuusing's work. The artist's main source of inspiration is people. Kuusing creates (sur)realistic and situational images with mythological content and appearance that point the finger toward a colorful human zoo. The themes addressed by the author are sincere and simple, capturing both business sharks and politicians who seem to be caught in the act and the homeless living below the poverty line. The artist does not leave himself, neighbors, acquaintances, or people on the street untouched. Kuusing is fascinated by its honesty in naive art.
